November/December Construction Update
12:59PM November 21, 2016
No one in the tiny village of Mendon ever thought they would enjoy a high-speed internet experience, but Team Fiber has changed all of that. In fact, on November 9 Sharon from Mendon became our 3000th lit subscriber!
Mendon is just one of many rural communities across southwest Michigan that is experiencing the life-changing difference of fiber internet. Peter, another new customer in Mendon, recently said, “Thanks for providing broadband to rural areas. Midwest is one of my favorite providers of services. Cooperatives are the best!”
We appreciate the kind words, and are thankful for the trust and patronage of our growing family of subscribers. As we approach the end of year 2 of our five-year build, we’re excited about the progress we’ve made and eager to move into our new communities as previously announced in the 2017 launch plan!
Here is the final construction update for 2016:
All zones that went live in 2016 will be lit in early December, and installers will spend much of their next few weeks hooking up service to folks in the Keeler and Northeast Cassopolis Zones. Santa may have all kinds of new gift opportunities with fiber-speed internet in the house!
North Dowagiac: As previously shared, we’re approaching this build in two phases because of the size of the zone. Walk-out work in complete across both areas, and construction has started in the area west of the Amtrak railway. We expect to begin home installs early in the summer. Construction will begin east of the railway in the spring, will installs following later in the summer.
Marcellus and Mattawan: Construction work is slated to begin next summer and you should see home installs beginning in the fourth quarter.
Construction crews will keep at it in the field as long as Mother Nature cooperates. In areas with underground service, you may see line laying on top of the snow and ice, but crews will return to bury the line once the weather permits.
From our family to yours, have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving holiday!
