2018 Fiber Internet Construction Plan
1:52PM October 12, 2017
Time flies when you’ve having fun, and we’re having a blast bringing fiber internet to our southwest Michigan members.
In a couple of short months, we’ll begin year four of our five-year deployment. We still remember the day we lit our first customer, and we’ll end this year with over 6000. We’re having a ball, and love hearing all of the great comments from our subscribers.
So what happens in 2018? You’ve worked hard to build your zones, and we’re excited to announce that our first zone to go into construction in 2018 is not one zone at all, but TWO!
Today we welcome Union and West Three Rivers Zones into our 2018 build.
We’ll begin walk-out work in both areas yet this year as we plan and engineer the build. There are many stages to the actual construction process, and depending on how Mother Nature cooperates this winter, we hope to begin home installs in Summer 2018.
East-North Dowagiac: Construction is complete and we’re actively installing new subscribers.
Mattawan: Construction is partially complete and we have lit some subscribers. We're continuing construction efforts through the fourth quarter.
Marcellus: Construction is complete and we’re actively installing new subscribers.
North Marcellus/South Lawton: We’ll begin mainline construction and splicing this quarter, and drop construction and splicing first quarter of 2018, weather permitting. If all goes as planned, we’ll begin lighting subscribers early second quarter of 2018.
Here’s a recent testimonial from a new subscriber, in celebration of harvest season and all of our hard-working farmers. “Ours was a specialized installation -- more complicated than usual. We were very pleased with your staff. The speed? Exceeded our expectations. In Truck-Talk -- The fiber is like having a whole new gear -- like Overdrive! Comparatively, the previous option was working in "creeper" gear. I'm getting more accomplished every day -- increase in productivity! In business, that's money in the bank! A couple of years ago, I bought a new computer because my existing one was so slow. Now I realize, it wasn't the computer, it was the internet connection speed that was lacking. Thank you for bringing "Fiber to the Farm"!”
